Chancellor Nominates Coordinating Officer for Rio Grande Community College and the University of Rio Grande
For Immediate Release, March 26, 2008
COLUMBUS—Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut announced the nomination of Dr. Barbara Gellman‐ Danley as Coordinating Officer for Rio Grande Community College and the University of Rio Grande.
Earlier this month, Rio Grande Community College and the University of Rio Grande worked with Chancellor Fingerhut to continue an agreement for instructional, administrative, and student services. As part of the agreement, the boards of trustees for both institutions will elect a coordinating officer that is nominated by the chancellor. Responsibilities include working with both schools to improve their working relationship and the continued viability of both institutions.
Dr. Gellman‐Danley, current president at Antioch University McGregor and former vice chancellor of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, is a nationally‐recognized expert in higher education, adult learning, leadership, and organizational planning. Her responsibilities as coordinating officer will not affect her role at Antioch University McGregor.
“The Rio Grande community deserves a significant figure in higher education to help them move forward,” Fingerhut said. “Dr. Gellman‐Danley has the experience and knowledge to help the university and the community college find a path for the future that will allow them to provide educational options that are much needed in the area.”
“I’m excited to begin working with Rio Grande Community College and the University of Rio Grande,” Dr. Gellman‐Danley added. “The schools are so vital to the citizens they serve, and I believe together we will make a real impact on the success of the region.”
